Member Engagement committee Interest meeting
Member engagement is the effort we put into the branch to increase attendance at our internal and external events. In short, this part of our branch is focused on the development, retention, and activation of our community. If you think you'd be interested in helping us build out a more robust member engagement process, come join!
Political Education Theory Session #4: "Socialist Feminism”
This session of our Theory Series will introduce attendees to socialist feminism. We will discuss gender oppression in general and its historically specific forms under capitalism. We will consider how gender organizes production and reproduction in capitalist society through an unequal division of labor and through political, economic, and social relations of domination. We will ask - what is patriarchy? And can it be understood as an autonomous social system independent of capitalism? We will explore the concept of social reproduction, or simply, how society keeps itself going–through which we can understand the coercion of women into the essential but undervalued, if not unpaid, labor of child-rearing, homemaking, and caretaking required to reproduce the workforce. We will consider how socialist feminism differs from liberal and other forms of feminism, and how socialist feminists today are rethinking political action to end the brutalities of both gender oppression and capitalism.

Member Discussion & Plug-In Meeting
Join BuxMont DSA for our monthly virtual Member Discussion & Plug-In meeting.
Looking to get involved in our projects and campaigns - or to volunteer for some essential administrative tasks - but don’t know where to start? Have an idea for a new project or initiative, or suggestions about member engagement? This meeting is for you! We will catch you up to speed on all the ongoing work of the branch, with the intention of assigning tasks collectively.
We will also make space for either brief open discussion or conversation about a specific topic regarding local organizing.
Council Watch
The BuxMont DSA Council Watch was established in October of 2020 to encourage participation in local politics and to find opportunities for other BuxMont DSA Campaigns.
The agenda will start with an orientation, getting attendees up to speed on what they can do to participate in the Council Watch. Next we will move on to at least one report from a county or municipal meeting. Finally, we will come up with some action items to move on before the next meeting.
